We had a little excitement over the weekend. While we were reading a bedtime story, Emily told me her tooth felt funny. I checked it and told her she had a loose tooth (bottom middle). She was SO excited and jumped up to run tell her Dad! It was that total spontaneous excitement that we all lose as we get older. We had told her that it may take a couple of weeks to come out, but the very next day while we were at a Children's Art Festival, she was wiggling it, and out it came! Smiles and excitement again! Emily put her tooth in this special little box under her pillow. Well, it's been so long since we've had a child at this stage, we weren't sure how much the tooth fairy should leave, but with inflation, she decided on a $1 bill. It was fun to see Emily so happy, and I'm glad we get to experience these special times of Emily's growing up. (K.)

I think inflation would make it $5....I really remember getting $1 from the tooth fairy! :) Now, if only I could find a sitter for $2 and hour like I got paid GROWING UP, I would be in HEAVEN!
Congrats on the tooth Emily! What fun things to look forward to!
I thought I remembered only giving $1 for the 2 big front teeth??? My memory is probably going, but Emily was happy! Why are you still up at this hour?
We only ever got a quarter, but I never complained!
And why were you still up at 11 at night? Silly night owls. Of course, I'm one to talk - I generally stay up pretty late myself. :-)
Yeah, a quarter was it for us. Rachel, I am with you on the sitter thing. We do closer to 1.50 per child per hour. Ouch!
11:00 is late? Hmmm, nobody told me! Seriously, this is the only time I get where nobody needs anything from me, and the house is quiet.
And Emily has beaten Oren on the teeth thing! I can't believe how big they are. They aren't very far apart, they were both tiny babies at the reunion in '02. Now we have teeth falling out! Congrats Emily!
Funny thing about the tooth fairy...what do you do with all those teeth after you collect them? Well, I was going through a box of old memorabilia the other day and found a large manilla envelope entitled "tooth fairy"...I opened it and sure enough there are all these envelopes that Mr Fairy had pulled from under the pillows in the middle of the night! They aren't labled with whose teeth are whose, so we can't return them to the rightful owners, but we have them!
yeah, Emily! I don't remember what the tooth fairy gave, but I bet it's gonna go up again before Evie starts losing hers...or maybe not. What fun!
Our tooth fairy only gave a quarter. Lucky Emily!
The tooth fairy Emily got must have been on vacation or something every time I lost a tooth growing up, cause I rarely ever got that much. I was happy if I got 2 quarters! (Can you sense my sisterly jealousy?) ;) Just kidding.
Sorry I didn't comment earlier, Kathy...I'm doing good enough to just keep up on the blogs, let alone write a comment on them all! But tell Emily I'm so excited for her! Hooray Emily!
I only remember getting a quarter...I want to know why Rachel was getting $1!
Either way, congratulations Emily.
There's a tag for you on my blog - enjoy!
